Jupi Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Jupi ("Jupi", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the Jupi mobile application. Jupi is designed with a local-first approach.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to the Jupi mobile app and related in-app experiences. It does not apply to third-party services, app stores, or device operating systems that may process your information under their own policies.
2. Information We Process
Depending on your use of the App, Jupi may process the following categories:
| Category | Examples | How It Is Used | Storage Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microphone signal data | Real-time audio intensity used to detect exhale behavior | To drive breathing interaction and visual melt effects | Processed on-device in memory; not stored as audio recordings |
| App settings | Sensitivity mode, haptics toggle, theme preference, unlock order | To preserve your preferences | Stored locally on your device |
| Gallery and session metadata | Unlock timestamps, optional mood text, local media filenames | To display your unlocked calming content | Stored locally on your device |
| Permission status interactions | System permission prompts and authorization states | To enable required features and comply with iOS permission flow | Managed by iOS and app runtime |
3. Permissions We Request
- Microphone: Required for breath detection and core interactive effects.
- App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt: May be shown by iOS. At the time of this Policy, Jupi does not use third-party ad SDK tracking for personalized advertising.
- Wireless data access check: A brief network reachability request may occur during startup permission flow to trigger the iOS cellular data access dialog.
4. Audio Handling
5. Network Use
Jupi primarily operates locally. During startup, the app may make a short request to an Apple-hosted test URL to trigger an iOS wireless-data permission flow. We do not use this request to build user profiles.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your locally stored breathing interaction data, settings, or gallery metadata with third parties except when required by law.
7. Data Retention
Data stored by Jupi remains on your device until you remove it (for example, by uninstalling the app or clearing app data through available device/system controls).
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to a local-first mobile app design. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
Jupi is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law to provide valid consent for data processing without parental involvement. If you believe a child provided personal data inappropriately, contact us.
10. Your Choices and Rights
- You may deny or revoke permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
- You may remove locally stored data by uninstalling the App or using system controls where available.
- Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have legal rights regarding access, deletion, or objection. Contact us to make a request.
11. International Users
Because Jupi is primarily local-first and does not rely on user account servers for core operation, cross-border transfers are limited. If transfers occur in future versions, we will implement appropriate safeguards as required by law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date.
